UFI, CAS and GTIN checker
Paste UFI, CAS numbers, EC numbers or GTIN, one per line. The tool recognises the type from its form and recalculates the check digit in your browser. That way you find typing errors before they reach the label or the data sheet. A check digit does not show whether a code was actually issued.
UFI and GTIN belong with the product
In ProofPass they sit with each product. From the Business plan, a GS1 Digital Link leads through the GTIN straight to your data sheet.
Frequently asked questions
Does "correct" mean the UFI has been validly notified?
No. The check digit only shows that the code is correctly formed. Whether it belongs to your formulation and was notified is something nobody can read from the 16 characters.
How does the tool recognise the type?
By its form: 16 characters in four groups are a UFI, 123-456-7 is an EC number, 50-00-0 is a CAS number, and 8, 12, 13 or 14 digits are a GTIN.
Can I generate a UFI here?
No. You create the UFI in the ECHA generator, where you enter your VAT number and formulation number. You can check it here afterwards.
How do I check all the codes in a safety data sheet?
The SDS check reads the PDF in your browser and checks the UFI and CAS numbers in the text as well.
