ExampleThis is what your report looks like. The values here are made up.

3 points are worth a look.

  • These subsections were not found: 11.2, 12.7
  • Subsections 11.2 and 12.7 are missing, which points to the format used before 2023.

Questions about the SDS check

What does the SDS check look at?

Whether every subsection of the 16 sections of REACH Annex II appears, and whether the format of Regulation (EU) 2020/878 can be recognised. It also tests the check digits of UFI and CAS numbers, flags H statements outside the CLP Regulation and looks at the age of the revision date. The language of the sheet does not matter, because the numbers are the same everywhere.

Is my file uploaded?

No. Your browser reads the PDF on your device and nothing goes to us. You do not need an account.

Does a clean result mean the safety data sheet is correct?

No. The check only sees the form. Whether classification and content are right is for a competent person to judge, which Article 31(1) REACH requires anyway. It is not legal advice either.

How does it recognise the old format?

Regulation (EU) 2020/878 brought subsections 11.2 (information on other hazards) and 12.7 (other adverse effects), among others. If both are missing, the sheet probably dates from before it. Safety data sheets have had to follow the new format since 1 January 2023.

Why does it flag some H statements?

Some codes such as H303, H316 or H401 exist in the global GHS but not in the EU CLP Regulation. On a sheet for the EU they usually come from a template for another market.
